The well-maintained grounds and signposted grazing fields demonstrate excellent park management and accessibility.

The somewhat random layout adds charming unpredictability to your exploration, while we appreciate the inclusion of non-science fiction items throughout the exhibition. The separate Offworld shop offers excellent vintage toy collections, particularly appealing to fans of earlier science fiction periods rather than contemporary productions.
Light Pyramid
Six-metre-high white steel sculpture perched atop the Belvedere in Campbell Park, Milton Keynes – the highest point offering sweeping views across Buckinghamshire and Bedfordshire. Created by artist Liliane Lijn in 2012, it replaced an earlier basket beacon that got struck by lightning in 2002. Commissioned for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, it’s made from five triangular wedges with perforated inner planes that let concealed floodlights radiate through the gaps. Gets lit up for special local and national events. Sits at eastern end of Midsummer Boulevard. Grade II listed Campbell Park itself recognised nationally in 2020.
The Tree Cathedral
Living cathedral made entirely from trees rather than stone, planted at Newlands in 1986 by landscape architect Neil Higson. The layout recreates Norwich Cathedral’s ground plan – hornbeam and lime form the nave columns, evergreens mark the central tower and spires, flowering cherry and apple trees highlight the chapels. Cleverly oriented towards the midsummer sun along Midsummer Boulevard’s angle rather than due east. Mix of evergreen and deciduous means it looks stunning year-round, with spring bulbs mimicking stained glass light on the ground. Used for wedding blessings, ash interments and quiet contemplation. Managed by Milton Keynes Parks Trust, now on the New Town Heritage Register.
Frog Clock
Charming entertainment awaits children and adults alike at this delightful attraction on Midsummer Boulevard, though recent maintenance issues have affected its reliability. When functioning properly, you’ll watch small balls roll across intricate tracks before hourly musical performances feature bubble displays that create wonderful family entertainment. Operating Monday through Wednesday from 9:30 AM to 6 PM, Thursday and Friday until 8 PM, Saturday from 9 AM to 7 PM and Sunday from 10 AM to 5 PM, this free attraction provides excellent value when working. We hope future restoration will return this beloved feature to full operation for continued community enjoyment.
Castle Fine Art Gallery
Castle Fine Art Gallery sits on Acorn Walk inside centre:mk, part of the UK’s leading art retail chain that’s been making fine art accessible since launching in Stratford-upon-Avon back in 1995. Famous for spectacular window displays that stop shoppers in their tracks. Sells everything from original paintings to hand-signed limited editions and sculptures – work by cultural icons like Bob Dylan and Ronnie Wood alongside contemporary artists. Every piece gets bespoke framing, hand-mounted by skilled craftsmen from a choice of four hundred wood frames. Expert consultants help build collections and the gallery hosts regular artist events throughout the year.
Bancroft Roman Villa
Ancient Roman life in Britain comes alive at this significant historical landmark on Constantine Way, where initial discovery during 1971 development work led to 15 years of detailed archaeological investigation. You’ll explore remains of a complex villa destroyed by fire, while the prominent late 3rd-century winged-corridor villa features geometric mosaics and bath suite remnants. The site includes evidence of formal gardens with a fishpond and possible summerhouse structures, though limited physical remains survive today. We appreciate the free access and excellent dog-walking opportunities combined with historical significance, making it worthwhile for history enthusiasts and casual visitors seeking authentic archaeological experiences.
